At the plenum, the committee discussed and made decision on plans on 13th Party Central Committee personnel, orientations for the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and all-level People's Councils for 2021-2026, and the appointment of delegates to the 13th National Party Congress, among others. 

Addressing the closing ceremony, Party General Secretary, State President Nguyen Phu Trong said that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused deep and comprehensive impacts on all aspects of socio-economic performance in countries across globe including Viet Nam. 

Thanks to the sound leadership of the Party and State, drastic and timely management of the Government and Prime Minister, the positive engagement of the entire political system, and the enthusiastic and strong support of the entire people, Viet Nam has fundamentally contained community transmission and mitigated losses.

The Central Party Committee warmly welcomed, applauded and thanked countrymen, comrades, soldiers, as well as overseas Vietnamese people for their solidarity in the fight against COVID-19.

As the pandemic still evolves complicatedly,  the top leader underlined the necessity to stay vigilant to take prompt responses while restarting the economy and stabilizing people's life to strive for realization of the preset goals for 2020. 

Trong asked members of the committee to continue to further uphold a sense of responsibility for the Party, countrymen and the country to focus on realizing the resolutions of the 12th National Party Congress and the Party Central Committee, and prepare for the 13th National Party Congress.

During the plenum, the Party Central Committee elected two more members to its Inspection Committee and decided to expel Admiral Nguyen Van Hien, former Deputy Defense Minister from the Party as he bears prime responsibility as well as personal responsibility for the violations and mistakes of the force in management and use of defense land.
