On June 29, the Ministry of Health Mission led by Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen had a meeting with the People's Committee of Dak NongAt the meeting, delegates heard reports about disease prevention and control, including diphtheria; Implementing the Decision No. 2348 dated December 5, 2016 of the Prime Minister approving the Scheme on building and developing the grassroots health network in the new situation.

Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen highly appreciated the prevention and control of epidemics in Dak Nong

According to a report of the Department of Health, from the beginning of 2020 until now, the whole province has recorded 21 infectious diseases, with a total of 1,145 cases; of which 5 cases were fatal. Compared to the same period in 2019, the number of cases decreased by 2.994 cases, but the number of deaths increased by 4 cases. Diphtheria alone has 12 cases, 1 death. Thanks to the drastic implementation of anti-epidemic work as soon as the disease has been detected, such as setting up barriers, spraying disinfectant drugs, prophylactic Vaccince ..., diphtheria has basically been controlled.

Regarding the Decision No. 2348 of the Prime Minister, after 3 years of implementation, although the health sector has made a plan suitable to the local situation, many targets have been lower than the proposed project objectives. Specifically, for the commune level, only 97.1 percent of health stations are eligible for medical examination and treatment with health insurance, implementing from 20 perent to 70 percent of the technical portfolio of the commune level. The reason is the shortage of human resources in the health sector, especially doctors with high qualifications and in-depth specialties. Infrastructure in some health facilities has deteriorated and is not yet suitable for its use; Medical equipment in many places is still lacking and not yet synchronized.

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh expected the Ministry of Health to have more support to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment.

At the meeting, the Ministry of Health delegation highly appreciated the prevention and control of Dak Nong province, especially the prevention and control of Covid-19. However, in the coming time, there will be many experts and laborers from the epidemic countries to work in the province, so we needs to do a good job of management and isolation. At the same time, Dak Nong must not be negligent, caught off guard, strengthen control over the border area, prevent the Covid -19 epidemic from entering the locality. For diphtheria, the provincial health sector needs to implement well the propaganda and vaccination of  Td vaccine, training to improve the knowledge of diagnosis in treatment for medical staff and doctors.

Concluding the meeting, regarding the prevention and control of Covid-19 disease in the coming time, Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen asked Dak Nong to continue seriously implementing the guiding spirit of the Prime Minister. Covering is the prevention of diseases from the border, especially in the border areas, open trails, arrangement of isolated areas, prevention of cross-contamination in hospitals. For diphtheria that is taking place, the province needs to strengthen the investigation, surveillance of disease, organize additional Td vaccination in concave areas, promote the expanded vaccination in general, especially in the region ethnic minorities, no diphtheria outbreak for the second time.

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh thanked the Ministry of Health and its affiliated units for their interest in investing in infrastructure and medical equipment, step by step response the local medical examination and treatment. However, the locality still faces many difficulties, human resources in the health sector are lacking, especially highly qualified doctors, in-depth specialists, infrastructure and equipment in some health facilities has deteriorated and is not yet suitable for its use. Therefore, the province needs more support from the Ministry of Health to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, deploy modern technical services to satisfy the healthcare of the people in the province.
