On the evening of 7 July 2019, Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to receive the UNESCO expert team led by Dr.SC Maurizio Burlano and Dr.Sc Vesa Krokki, Dr.Sc Guy Martin, coming for the official evaluation of the Aspirant Dak Nong Geopark.

Leaders of the province including Provincial Communist Party Secretary Le Dien, Provincial People's Committee Vice-Chairman Tran Xuan Hai,  Provincial People's Committee Vice-Chairwoman Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh, along with Heads of departments, agencies of the province attended the meeting.

At this meeting, Dak Nong province informed the experts of the foundation and development of Dak Nong Geopark

After warmly welcoming and expressing a lot of thanks to the experts for the trip to Dak Nong,  Provincial People's Committee Vice-Chairman Tran Xuan Hai introduced to the experts about the Aspirant Dak Nong Geopark as well as the province's ceaseless efforts in reserving and developing the values of the Geopark.  The Provincial People's Committee Vice-Chairman also expressed hope that the results of the experts' working trip in Dak Nong would prove Dak Nong geopark meet the requirements for the membership of the UNESCO Global Geopark Network. This would serve to encourage Dak Nong to best reserve and develop the values of the heritages, contributing to bringing about benefits for the people and the comunities within the Geopark, and to the common success of the UNESCO GGN as well.

As an agenda of the meeting, Provincial People's Committee Vice-Chairwoman Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh briefed on the foundation and development of Dak Nong Geopark. She also mentioned the ceaseless efforts of the whole provincial system of the province in building and developing the Geopark, making it meet the requirements for becoming member of UNESCO GGN. In the coming time, Dak Nong would increase its investment in the infrastructure, and tourism development with a view to better developing the values of Dak Nong Geopark, contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development of the localities within Dak Nong Geopark.

Dr.Cs Maurizio Burlando and Dr.Cs Vesa Krokki expressed thanks for the warm welcome of Dak Nong province as well as the significant information on the Geopark that they had been provided, which they thought would be very useful for the team's evaluation process.

As scheduled, the expert team would begin their official evaluation process of the Aspirant Dak Nong Geopark from 8 July 2019.
